Egret Wins Rowhedge Regatta

64930575_10157095003671421_418330261306998784_nCongratulations to Danny Fox and the Mersea Boys who raced Egret to a very close and exciting finish at Rowhedge Regatta on 22 June 2019. Gritter and the Never Say Never lads had led the race from the first mark thanks to a good start and a rather jammy lift which took them into the first mark to seaward around the outside of the fleet.  As they turned and headed up river Never Say Never had a comfortable lead, but as they came through Wivenhoe  Egret and Windsprite, being helmed by Dave Conlon, had caught them up. The final stage into Rowhedge was a superb battle with Egret just getting the upper hand right on the line.

With 12 boats out, glorious sunshine and the usual hospitality at Rowhedge it was a brilliant day and much enjoyed by all.  The East Donyland Cup for the main race was present to Egret at Rowhedge and the Ian Brown Trophy will be presented to the winner of the downriver race at this Saturday’s BOD Summer Garden Party.
