The Final Fling Race and end of season lunch are coming up this weekend, Sunday 29 September, so if you haven’t already booked in for lunch you need to do so urgently by calling Marianne on 01203 302594 or emailing her at waterside@colneyachtclub.org.uk. We have around 40 people already booked in so far so it’s going to be a lovely gathering.
For Sunday’s Final Fling Race we have some special sailing instructions as the race will start at Bateman’s Tower and finish in the creek on the CYC club line. Here are the notes from Colin Willett who will be our OOD for the day.
Final Fling Race Special Instructions 2019
Start Batemans Tower 10.30 a.m. using transits on the Tower and the East Mersea shore, the outer limit mark is the yellow cone buoy positioned on the line.
It is planned to finish the race on the CYC club house line which is a transit between the club flag pole and transit mark on the sea wall in front of the club which has a red triangle on top.
Boats must leave Minters Point Buoy to starboard as they approach the line. (this is the green navigation buoy at the seaward end of the Cindery Island spit)
The course will be displayed on the railings at Bateman’s Tower and this will be duplicated on Nick Redding’s RIB. It will also be transmitted on radio 37/M1 if required.
The forecast is currently a bit lively for Sunday so a final decision on racing will have to be taken on the day, but the lunch and draw for the Geedon Construction Services/HD Sails Spinnaker will go ahead regardless. Don’t forget that you have to be present at the lunch to qualify for the draw so even if we don’t race you still want to be at the lunch. We will gather for drinks in the bar from 1pm and go through to lunch around 1.30pm.
