The 2026 BOD racing season will get underway on Thursday 7 May with the first of the 10 race Thursday Night Pursuit Series which starts from the BSC line. Already a number of boats have confirmed their intention to race including last year’s series winner C44 Janice sailed by Joe and Sally Harman and Derick Gentry.
This season the special trophy races will all start from the BSC line. First up will be the Rotary Cup on Sunday 17 May starting at 11.00. On Saturday 30 May is the Osborn Cup, also starting at 11.00, which will be run in conjunction with the BSC Arthur Dobbs upriver race, giving the chance for you to win two trophies from one race.
The Colne River Regattas are always a highlight of the season and this year Rowhedge Regatta is first up on Saturday 20 June, then Wivenhoe Regatta follows on Saturday 4 July and finally Brightlingsea Regatta on 18 July. Start times and course details for these will be published in due course.
Once again Pyefleet Week will be the highlight of the season and this year the week will kick off with the President’s Trophy on Sunday 26 July and run through until Friday 31 July.
Sunday 6 September we have a two race mini series from the BSC Committee Boat with the first start at 14.00. The first race will be for the Cormorant Cup and the second for the Reg White Trophy. And the season comes to an end close with the ever popular Final Fling at 11.00 on Sunday 27 September.
With the Brightlingsea One Design’s 100th Anniversary fast approaching in 2027 we hope to see an increasing number of boats participating this year in preparation for the big celebrations.
If you are interested in joining the fleet we have a number of boats for sale including two of the new GRP boats, several wooden boats already in racing condition and a number of wooden boats requiring restoration.
