Hickley Tiller
The Hickley tiller was presented by Eve Hickley as a memorial for her husband to the CYC. It was originally for a BOD team race between the Brightlingsea and West Mersea BOD fleets. When the West Mersea fleet became defunct it was between the BSC and CYC. When the BSC dropped the BODs as a one design fleet the CYC repurposed it as the BOD regatta trophy. At one point the CYC was running a BOD race in conjunction with its regatta cruiser races but with the demographic shift in BOD owner ship it has recently been a CYC trophy run in conjunction with the BSC regatta dinghy race. It is a large yacht’s tiller and lives in the CYC clubhouse.
